(Rain Date: August 25, 2024) This event offers both guided and self-guided tours of the grounds surrounding a local private residence. The landscaping, with its emphasis on native plants, includes over 100 specimens, a memory garden, and 4 rain gardens connected by a simulated drybed.

About the event
WHERE: The garden is on a private residence (731 Anderson Avenue, Rockville). Street parking is available. Please respect that this is a residential street.
WHAT: Terry Pinkston, your host and guide, will walk you through her small suburban lot which she has transformed into a living example of Piedmont plantings for wildlife. After 5 years of trial-and-error she has planted over 100 specimens, all labeled. In addition, Terry maintains raised organic vegetable and hexagon-shaped herb gardens. On the front lot she has created a Never Forget Garden to honor America's war dead. And highlights are 4 rain gardens connected with a simulated dry riverbed. Recipient of the 2024 Carl Henn Outstanding Individual Environmental Stewardship Award, presented by the City of Rockville.
Come visit this oasis of small garden gems and multiple gardening designs and ideas. Take either of the 2 informal guided tours (9 - 11 am or 2 - 4 pm) or wander on your own during these scheduled hours. Questions welcomed!
